ONE ROOM CHALLENGE – WEEK 7| DESIGNING A ROOM WITH GROWING KIDS IN MIND

Hi friends! Welcome to Week 7 of the One Room Challenge, the highly anticipated interior design event that challenges participants to completely transform a space in 8 weeks.  The design challenge boasts 20 Featured Designers, hundreds of Guest Participants and Better Homes and Gardens as the media sponsor.

If you missed the updates from Week 1 , Week 2, or Week 3 , Week 4, or Week 5 , Week 6 be sure to go back and read all about my plan to transform 3 (yes, 3 spaces!)  in my home as a Featured Designer in the One Room Challenge.   You can also check out more details about the exciting design event here.

Project Update: How’s it coming along?

I’ve shown you a lot of the transformation happening in the primary bedroom.   This week I’ll be sharing a peak at what’s taking place in the kids’ rooms along with some of the brand sponsors that are helping to make the redesign possible.

Showing the Walls some Love

Zaria and Samori share a bedroom. With this in mind, I chose Brazen Orange, a fun gender neutral color from Kelly Moore Paints,  to transform the walls in the room. Its a bold color choice for sure. However, when paired with black, white and cream the color creates a feel in the room that is truly timeless. Choosing a paint color is a breeze with  Kelly Moore Paints. I love that Kelly Moore Paints ships your paint selections right to your home or project site, a huge time saving feature for this busy mom.

The kids were really excited about the new color for their room and wanted to get in on the fun.

Typically, I would hire a painter to get the job done but decided against hiring this job out. What better way to let the kids feel like the space is really theirs than by allowing them to take part in the renovation?

These in progress photos really don’t do the color any justice. It’s simply gorgeous. Especially when the sunlight hits the walls.

You’ll have to wait to the final reveal to see it in all its glory. I promise you it’s AMAZING!

Now, on to the walls in Saleh’s room. Remember we were going for moody, sophisticated masculine, cool in this space and Tempaper’s stunning Black Linen Grasscloth wallpaper  did not disappoint. The peel and stick paper is easy to put up and will be just as easy to remove when Saleh heads off to college next year.

That’s all for sneak peeks here on the blog today. With packages arriving daily, we are down to the wire on this 3 room renovation. These next few days before the big reveal include a few last minute design changes, accessorizing and all the magic it takes to create the stunning rooms I’ll be sharing next week.

Everyone loves a good before and after. Make sure you come back to see how the BIG REVEAL photos next week.  I promise it will be a transformation like no other.
