PROJECT REVEAL: A Family Dining Room Gets a Sophisticated Makeover

My client, a busy mom of 4 wanted a simple, elegant and “adult” update to her dining room. She’d been wanting a dining space she and her husband could entertain guests in but would also easily service the needs of their modern family. Like many families today, their dining room is used for kids’ homework and projects and regular Sunday dinners. However, the room also used to accommodate the occasional adult dinner party or brunch. Based on our conversations about the family’s personal style, color preferences, likes and dislikes, we came up with these 2 design plans.

My client fell in love with the design elements in option #2. She loved the energy that the infusion of rich orange, of one her favorite colors, would bring to the space. She also liked that we incorporated more functional and traditional pieces like the large dark wood dining table. The table is huge and would allow ample space for both hosting grand dinner parties and helping the kids homework. Here are the results of the dining room transformation.The table, which seats 8 comfortably, is perfect for dining parties and entertaining.

Brass nailhead trim, gorgeous lines and curves, rich color and texture..What’s not to love about these chairs?

My favorite piece in this room is definitely the chandelier.  The fixture’s iron frame combined with the delicate strands of crystal are what make this piece such a unique beauty.  It’s simply stunning when lit and is totally worth every minute I spent assembling those gorgeous strands of crystal!  It is sure to be the topic of conversation when guests are gathered for the family’s next dinner party.
